Dusky Flycatcher
Empidonax oberholseri
Synopsis:
Nests widely in brushy habitats east of the Cascade crest and more
locally in the Siskiyous and perhaps elsewhere.
Thus, records from the Coast Range and west slope of Cascades are especially
notable, as are records (possibly late migrants) from
central Harney County.

Relative Detectability:
Easy to detect by its song, but song and call notes are
sometimes confused with those of Gray and
Hammond's Flycatchers. Difficult to identify and to confirm nesting.
Challenge:
Determine if species is currently more widespread in Jackson
County and eastern Deschutes County.
